Thousands of universities worldwide do accept the TOEFL as it’s the oldest English Proficiency test. The TOEFL is owned and administered by Education testing Service (ETS) which is a US based organization. The Universities in the USA prefer that the international students write TOEFL Exam as the TOEFL score can get scholarships and assistantships in top US institutions.
TOEFL exam consists of multiple choice questions and in IELTS you need to react to a wide array of questions type and situations by scripting down short answers and you have essay tasks as well.
